One of the goals of Beyond Disabilities week was to include students, professors, and community members who shared different views and experiences with disabilities to come together to discuss a variety of topics. Panel discussions were organic, audience driven, and diverse. Using an I-pad app, audience members were able to text or email their question to the panel group.
1. “Academic Support Center: Planning to Succeed-Stories from Alumni”: Alumni and students share practical tips of living and going to school with a variety of disabilities.
2. “Social Ettiquette: The How To’s”: Students with disabilities shared their college experiences and gave practical tips to students.
3. “What Makes Us Human”: One of my favorite events of the week that personally changed the way I framed disabilities.
